On May 13, Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of proposals on measures to strengthen seismic safety, the press service of the President reported.
It is noted that since 2017, 11,410 multi-storey buildings have been built in the regions. This serves to provide the population with adequate housing and improve living conditions.
The field of seismology, which is one of the foundations of construction, is also being developed. In this regard, attention is paid to cooperation with foreign scientific centers and the implementation of innovative technologies.
As is known, on April 26, 1966, a devastating earthquake occurred in Tashkent. The President of Uzbekistan put forward the initiative to establish a day of remembrance and solidarity in order to pay tribute to the victims of the earthquake and remind them of the need for international cooperation in this regard. Recently, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring April 29 the International Day of Remembrance for Earthquake Victims.
In order to comply with international standards in this area, the head of state set the task of increasing attention to the quality of newly built houses. Accordingly, measures are being taken to increase the earthquake resistance of multi-storey buildings and ensure seismic safety of the population.
In particular, on-site studies were conducted with the participation of specialists from state design institutes. Based on the results of this study and an analysis of the seismic situation in the regions, proposals were developed to further improve this system.
According to it, a new practice will be established for studying buildings with the involvement of foreign specialists. The exchange of experience in building houses resistant to earthquakes and other natural disasters will be expanded. Buildings will be subjected to instrumental technical inspection and deficiencies will be eliminated.
Based on these studies and foreign experience, amendments will be made to regulatory documents on assessing seismic hazard, impact and risk.
The President, emphasizing that quality and safety are the first priority in construction, gave instructions for the scientific development of these areas and the introduction of modern approaches to the industry. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
