Uzbekistan to develop car and motorcycle tourism

Uzbekistan to develop car and motorcycle tourism
Uzbekistan is developing a national tourism strategy through 2040, reports News.Mail.ru via Vaib.uz. The strategy is being created by the Agency for Strategic Reforms in cooperation with the international consultancy Reformatics.

One key focus is the development of auto and moto tourism — a growing trend globally that generates billions in countries like the U.S., Germany, and France.

According to the draft, the country plans to build campsites and tourist bases in natural and mountainous areas, accessible by car or motorcycle. These facilities will be tailored to the landscape and climate of each region.

To support mass auto tourism, Uzbekistan will localize production of camper vans and trailers, involving both domestic companies and foreign investors. This will create jobs and stimulate related industries.

The strategy also includes installing compact “smart” gas stations along highways. These units require minimal storage and can serve travelers in remote areas, fostering regional entrepreneurship and infrastructure growth.

Officials say this model will shift tourism toward more independent, flexible travel — where tourists explore the country freely in their own vehicles, opening new routes and creating demand for modern services.
