At Tashkent international airport, during an operative event conducted by law enforcement agencies, a serious crime related to human trafficking was prevented. Citizen Siddiqova had become acquainted with a candidate woman through social networks, gained her trust, and while trying to take her to Turkey with the promise of a high-paying job, was exposed by employees of the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs.
According to investigation information, the detained woman stated that she had been living in Turkey for 5 years, returned to Uzbekistan several weeks ago, and brought the victim to the airport with a job offer.
“I communicated with her via WhatsApp. The girl agreed. I was supposed to take her to Turkey, explain everything since she doesn’t know the language or the city. But at the airport, the internal affairs officers stopped us and took us to the Chilonzor Department of Internal Affairs,” — Siddiqova said.
Items brought with her — several foreign passports, flight tickets for the Tashkent–Istanbul route, and mobile phones — were inspected in the presence of witnesses and officially documented as evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 135 of the Criminal Code — “Human trafficking”. Preliminary investigation activities are currently underway. Authorities are examining whether the accused is involved in other criminal episodes.
Officials urge citizens to be vigilant in such cases, not to follow strangers based on promises of work and money, and to carefully check all official and legal documents when traveling abroad.
