On July 28, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was given a detailed briefing on the effectiveness of ongoing reforms and upcoming plans in Andijan region, reported president.uz. According to the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated November 18, 2024, special attention is being paid to the socio-economic development of the region and improving the investment and entrepreneurial environment.
This year, major goals have been set: attracting $3.1 billion in investments to Andijan, reaching $1.5 billion in exports, providing employment for 305,000 people, and lifting more than 32,000 families out of poverty. Since the beginning of the year, new production facilities worth $1 billion have been launched, 344 trade and service centers have started operating, and projects worth another $2.5 billion have been initiated.
In the past six months, $850 million in investments have been attracted and export volume has reached $465 million. The President’s visit to the region in April and the new tasks set during the visit gave Andijan an additional impetus for growth.
Recently, a “Reform Headquarters” was established with the participation of scientific experts and active entrepreneurs. This body developed new proposals in economic and social spheres, and at the current presentation, their main directions and effectiveness were reported.
For example, with $40 million investment from Germany, Turkey, and Japan, an innovative clinic based on robotic technologies is planned; with 20 million euros from Italy — an agrocluster, and another 25 million euros from Germany will go to building a modern agrologistics complex. In addition, more than 30 new tourism initiatives have been proposed for the cities of Khanabad, Khojaabad, and Bulokboshi districts.
A total of $1.1 billion in additional projects have been formed, which will create 22,000 new jobs and open up an additional $200 million in export opportunities. The President stressed the need for an individual approach to each city and district, allocating projects to areas with low investment, training and employing the unemployed and needy families, and turning neighborhoods into crime-free zones.
Andijan’s economic potential is further expanding, and new paths of investment and development are expected to raise the standard of living and prestige of the region to a new level.
