On August 19, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Pakistan, General Sahir Shamshad Mirzo. This was reported by the presidential press service.
“The high-ranking guest conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to the head of our state,” the report said.
According to the report, issues of further development of Uzbek-Pakistani multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership relations were discussed from the perspective of implementing the agreements reached during the Pakistani Prime Minister’s visit to Uzbekistan in February this year.

The intensification of mutual dialogue and exchanges at various levels was noted with satisfaction. Since the beginning of this year, trade turnover has increased by 23%, and cargo transportation by 50%. Trading houses have been opened in the cities of Karachi and Lahore. Direct air traffic has increased.
Issues of practical cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, in combating modern threats and dangers to security, were considered.
Particular attention was paid to the speedy implementation of the signed tripartite agreement on the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway.
