The restriction on crossing the border through Kazakhstan's "Tajen" (in Karakalpakstan, "Dovut ota") border crossing point has been extended until December 31, 2025. The Customs Committee of Uzbekistan provided official information about this.
According to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, restrictions on the movement of individuals, cars, buses, and trucks with a permitted total weight not exceeding 3.5 tons through Tazhen (adjacent to the "Dovut-ota" border customs post of the Republic of Uzbekistan), introduced from February 1, 2025, will remain in effect until the end of the year.
The extension of the deadline is related to the second stage of construction work at the border crossing. In particular, major repairs are being carried out in administrative buildings, as well as concreting of road surfaces.
However, trucks with a permitted maximum weight of more than 3.5 tons are allowed to move through the border crossing point "Tazhen" (Kazakhstan) - "Dovut Ata" (Uzbekistan).
At the same time, the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan announced the launch of additional passenger trains on the "Nukus-Beyneu" route through the "Karakalpakstan" railway station for individuals. This measure was implemented to ensure quick and convenient border crossing.
It should be recalled that traffic through these checkpoints was suspended for several months. Initially, the process was limited to three months from February 1, 2025, and then extended to September 1. Now, until the end of the year, all border movements will be subject to restrictions.
