The Tashkent city administration announced the launch of a new transport system that will connect the capital’s tourist routes. According to the new arrangement, from 22:00 to 06:00, special “night buses” will operate. With them, passengers will be able to easily reach the airport, railway station, metro stations, large markets, shopping centers, and student dormitories.
According to the administration, at the first stage, 15 routes will be launched, and buses will run every half hour. Buses on the special routes will differ from ordinary transport: they will be painted red and marked with numbers such as “T1”, “T2” with the label “Night Bus”. This will make them easy to distinguish from others.
The buses will meet modern requirements: the interiors will be equipped with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, a video surveillance system will be installed, and facilities will be provided for passengers with disabilities. The fare will be the same as on ordinary city bus routes.
According to the representative of the capital’s transport department, Olloyor Norbutayev, the project will be implemented in two stages, and a total of 54 buses will serve passengers. In the first years, the expenses will be covered by the local budget, with an estimated cost of about 33 billion soms. At the same time, the administration emphasizes that the goal of this system is not profit, but creating convenience for the population.
Experts believe that such steps are of great importance for increasing tourist flow and developing the city’s transport infrastructure. Providing the opportunity for convenient and safe travel at night will naturally enhance the image of the capital.
