The last general population census in Uzbekistan was conducted in 1989. Now it is planned to organize this large-scale event from January 15 to February 28, 2026. The registration process will be conducted online via the internet for the first 17 days, and then, within a month, it will be conducted door-to-door with the participation of the mahalla seven.
It is emphasized that thanks to this important initiative, government spending will be reduced by 1.3 trillion soums, and the registration process will be simple, fast, and transparent. The number of questions has also been reduced from the previous 328 to 71, which makes the process more convenient and effective.
During the census, based on the recommendations of the European Statistical Conference, a unified database of population composition, migration status, family situation, and sources of income will be created. Thus, the state will have complete and reliable information about the social and economic situation of the population.
Accurate statistics will also be collected for the agricultural sector. Land use, livestock and poultry numbers are taken into account. This information will increase the efficiency of funds allocated to agriculture and ensure food security in the country.
In order to effectively organize the census, the staff of the mahalla seven will be trained and supported on the basis of a special training program. At the same time, extensive promotional work will be actively carried out through the mass media and social networks.
These measures serve to effectively implement the state's strategic policy by collecting demographic and economic data on the population in an accurate database and play an important role in improving the standard of living of the population.
