On the eve of Teachers' and Mentors' Day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with representatives of the sphere. More than 40 thousand teachers from all regions joined the meeting online.
- The fate of our people and tomorrow begins with school. "Because the longest, and at the same time the most decisive stage of education and upbringing of our children is general education schools," the head of state emphasized.
According to official data, 6.5 million students are currently studying in the country's schools. This year, about 400 thousand schoolchildren left school as graduates, and 720 thousand children entered the 1st grade. Therefore, over the past eight years, about 500 new schools have been built, existing ones have been expanded, and an additional 1 million student places have been created.
Significant changes have also been observed in the private education system. As a result of the favorable conditions created by the state, the choice for parents has expanded. Today, more than 200 thousand students study in private schools.
As the President noted, a number of other important reforms will be implemented in school education. Starting from the new academic year, unified state examinations will be introduced for 9th and 11th grade students. This creates the opportunity to orient students towards a profession or prepare them for higher education, depending on their abilities and interests.
Thus, about 400 thousand 9th-grade graduates will be attracted to technical schools. For young people wishing to continue their studies at school and enter universities, subjects will be taught in-depth on a competitive basis.
In short, the results of the final exam at school determine the path to the future. Graduates will have the opportunity to enter either a technical school or a university.
Thus, the head of state emphasized that changes in the education system will open new paths for the fate of young people and recognized the work of teachers.
