The granddaughter of the First President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, and blogger Maryam Tillyaeva openly stated that her relationship with her mother — Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva — has been broken off. According to her, although five years have passed, they have not spoken even once. Maryam said this on September 15, while answering questions from her followers on Instagram.
According to the blogger, among all her relatives, the only person with whom she completely cut off communication is her mother.
“I consider her behavior very strange. She always tries to show herself good in front of others, sometimes portraying herself as a victim. But even when she came to Uzbekistan, she did not step into her mother’s house and behaved very strangely,” Maryam wrote.
She noted that at first this situation affected her painfully, but over time she got used to it. She even had to accept it simply as a fact: “my mother is like that.” At the same time, she expressed pity for her brother and sister.
Maryam said that family conflicts only grew over the years, adding: “I do not know when we may reconcile, because I recognize my mother less and less.” In her opinion, Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva looks like a person who tries to run away from herself and often seeks public attention.
Maryam also added that she feels her mother is trying to engage in unhealthy competition with her. “Of course, my words are illogical: how can I be her rival? She gave birth to me. I am 50 percent my mother, 50 percent my father,” wrote the blogger.
Speaking about her family, she emphasized that she cannot reveal some events out of respect for her grandmother Tatyana Karimova and other relatives.
One of her followers wrote that she does not envy Maryam’s family and would not wish such a family on anyone. Maryam agreed with this opinion: “My friends also never envied me. Because high position or money is not equal to family peace and healthy relationships.”
Maryam Tillyaeva stated that now she has decided to live her life differently: “From now on, I will live enjoying life, doing what I want. I am not responsible for the behavior of my relatives. I am not Mother Teresa to save everyone. I will simply live my life and build my own family.”
