In order to develop tourism around the famous "Chortoq" reservoir in the Namangan region, it is planned to create a modern complex, a hotel, restaurants, recreation and entertainment facilities. This was announced at a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Namangan region, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 16.
At the meeting, it was noted that within the framework of the medium-sized urban development project, implemented jointly with the World Bank, the "Furqat" park will be reconstructed this year and its territory will be expanded almost 2 times. Also, 11 kilometers of ecological eco-corridors, special routes for pedestrians and cyclists will be built along the Chartaksay River.
Within the framework of the program for the development of the intensive tourism complex, 7 kilometers of the banks of the Chartaksay and Big Namangan canals will be concreted, and 30 hectares of land will be turned into a profitable and productive area. Large service facilities of the sanatorium type are planned to be built here, combining perennial parks with nature.
Thus, not only a tourist complex, but also hotels, restaurants, recreation and entertainment facilities will be created around the Chartak Reservoir, which will significantly increase the tourism potential of the region.
In addition, another major project is a large tourist complex, which will be built on an area of 1200 hectares around Lake Arashan in the Pap district. This place has the capacity to receive 1 million tourists a year, which will further strengthen the investment and image of the region's tourism sector on a global scale.
In order to train qualified personnel for large projects in the field of tourism, starting from the next academic year, a joint faculty will be created at Namangan State University in cooperation with the University of Krems (Austria). This provides young specialists with modern knowledge and practice.
