On October 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed serious issues related to family problems, youth upbringing, and the social environment in neighborhoods during a meeting. The head of state emphasized the need to strengthen family stability and responsibility.
According to the president, around 32,000 families have divorced across the country this year alone. In addition, more than 16,000 parents are avoiding paying alimony, and some men are abandoning their families and children while leaving behind credit debts.
Mirziyoyev stressed that such cases are a serious warning for society and must draw the attention of local leaders, community elders, and the public. “Marriage is not just the union of two young people but a great responsibility toward one’s spouse, children, and the future,” he said.
During the meeting, the president highlighted the importance of promoting marriage contracts to prevent children from falling into financial hardship after divorce. In his view, such agreements not only protect the rights of family members but also safeguard children’s interests during the separation process.
The president also addressed the negative consequences of early marriages and unions between close relatives, noting that such relationships often lead to family conflicts and harm the upbringing of a healthy generation.
Mirziyoyev stated that strengthening family culture, mutual respect, and responsibility has become a key social task. For this, he called for active educational efforts in local communities, awareness campaigns in schools, and closer communication with young people.
Thus, the president’s remarks reflect the need for a new approach to family relations, economic responsibility, and the well-being of children. This state-level initiative will undoubtedly contribute to reinforcing the institution of the family.
