The President familiarized himself with the work carried out on Shota Rustaveli Street

On October 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent and reviewed the reconstruction work carried out on Shota Rustaveli Street.

Shota Rustaveli Street is the main road connecting several districts of the capital. In order to create convenience for traffic, a 7-kilometer section from Mirabad Street to Choshtepa Street has been reconstructed. Now cars will move on 6 lanes of the road, which is divided into 10 lanes, and buses will move on 2 specially designated routes. The remaining 2 lanes are intended for parking cars.

The President, together with representatives of state and public organizations, toured the bus, familiarized himself with the amenities, and talked with passengers.

It was noted that, based on the best practices of developed countries, a dedicated bus lane based on the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system has been implemented in Tashkent for the first time.

As a result of this project with a total cost of 19.2 million dollars, the passenger flow increased from 2,500 to 6,000 people per hour. In addition, the capacity of 40 thousand vehicles per day has been created, and the average speed has been increased from 23 to 30 kilometers per hour.

Within the framework of the project, 21 new bus stops and 463 "smart" traffic lights were installed. An intelligent transport system has been implemented. Conditions for parking cars along the road have also been taken into account.

Bicycle paths, green areas, and irrigation and drainage systems have also been created.

Projects to extend dedicated bus lanes in Tashkent and establish transport hubs around the city were also presented here.

- If we hadn't built metro lines, if we hadn't brought new buses, transportation in Tashkent today would have been difficult. Therefore, from the point of view of ensuring people's satisfaction, we are improving roads and developing public transport. We will continue such work in all our cities, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The head of state instructed officials to improve the convenience of public transport, reduce traffic congestion, and effectively connect the city with New Tashkent.
