A solemn ceremony was held with the participation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to lay the foundation stone for the construction of a new international airport in the Tashkent region.
Muhammad Abunayyan, Chairman of the Board of ACWA Power, a major investor from Saudi Arabia, also spoke at the event and shared his views on the reforms being implemented in the country. Below is his speech:
Esteemed Mr. President, esteemed Mr. Khalid al-Falih, Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, dear partners and esteemed guests! First of all, peace, blessings, and peace be upon all of you!
You have demonstrated not only to the participants gathered here today, but also to the whole world that what other countries have accomplished in close cooperation over the past eight years cannot be accomplished even in centuries.
Indeed, it is very difficult for any leader in the world to achieve such enormous results in such a short time.
Your Excellency, I have already emphasized: I know two leaders who have made such a big change. The first is Your Excellency, and the second is His Excellency the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
All the successes that we have seen and witnessed in Uzbekistan are the result of your great faith in your work and selfless work. You are doing all this thanks to your boundless love for your people and Homeland.
I spoke with the leaders of 24 countries of the world. But I have not met a head of state who loves his people as sincerely as you do. That is why your people love you and hold you in high regard.
I have had the good fortune to meet with you twenty times. Before each meeting, I prepare a speech and carefully consider what to say. But each time your thoughts, determination, and practical actions prevail over ours. You are always working hard, working diligently, and you will definitely achieve results.
You paid great attention to local and foreign investors. You created equal opportunities for them. You have transformed Uzbekistan into the best investment space for every company and country.
Through governance and transparency, you have overcome the difficult legacy of the past and created a new history.
I have implemented investment projects in 15 countries and visited more than 30 countries. Wherever I go, I hear about "New Uzbekistan." This New Uzbekistan is the result of your devotion to the Motherland and your tireless work.
The whole world is watching you today, learning from you. Under your leadership, a reliable government and a dedicated team are working day and night. I have only seen a government that works seven days a week, 18-20 hours a day, in Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. That is why your people love you, your investors and many countries respect you. Many people from around the world want to come to Uzbekistan as tourists, friends, and investors.
Uzbekistan has a great history. At the same time, your achievements today have important historical significance. Most importantly, you will never stop at what you have achieved. At today's meeting, you also noted that projects worth 30 billion dollars have been completed, and in the coming years, work will continue in new areas.
Your Excellency, Your main goal is to improve the quality of life of the people. You look at young people with great confidence. Such talented youth are the strength and future of New Uzbekistan.
In eight years, a solid foundation has been laid for New Uzbekistan. God willing, in the coming years, Uzbekistan will more clearly demonstrate its potential to the whole world. The world will certainly see what the new Uzbekistan is capable of.
His Excellency Mr. President, thank you for your trust in us. We are infinitely grateful to you for leading such large-scale work.
