In Uzbekistan, 177,000 marriages were registered between January and September 2025. This was reported by the National Statistical Committee.
According to the data, 91.2 thousand marriages were registered in urban areas, and 85.8 thousand in rural areas. This indicator, along with a steady increase in the number of families across the country, also shows a declining trend in recent years.
According to statistics, the number of marriages has been gradually decreasing over the past five years. In particular, 206.8 thousand marriages were registered in the same period in 2021, 197 thousand in 2022, 184.5 thousand in 2023, and 179.4 thousand in 2024. This year, this figure was 177 thousand.
Experts attribute this situation to several factors. Among them are such reasons as economic difficulties among young people, rising housing prices, a tendency to delay marriage, and in some cases, going abroad to work.
At the same time, sociologists believe that another reason for the decline in the number of marriages is the changing approach of young people to marriage. Many prioritize financial stability, independent living conditions, and personal development.
Also, although the number of marriages in urban areas is slightly higher than in rural areas, in recent years this difference has also been gradually decreasing.
Current figures indicate changes in the system of family relations and the formation of new social trends in the country.
