Gas consumption in Uzbekistan will be increased fivefold during the winter season

In Uzbekistan, the basic consumption rate of natural gas for the population will be increased fivefold during the heating season. According to the new decree, from November to February, the monthly norm for each apartment is set at 500 cubic meters. This change is being introduced taking into account the needs of the population in winter conditions.

According to the current procedure, previously, from March to October, the base gas consumption rate was set at 100 cubic meters per month, and during the heating season - at 500 cubic meters. Now this norm will be applied not only throughout the country, but also in regions where cold weather prevails - in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region from October to February. It is taken into account that the demand for gas in these regions is higher than in others.

In order to strengthen the social protection of the population, by presidential decree, compensation for electricity and natural gas will be paid on an ongoing basis to families in need.

For electricity - up to 150 kilowatt-hours per month in excess of the base norm, and for natural gas - up to 250 cubic meters in winter months, up to 150 cubic meters in other months of the year. Previously, this benefit applied only for winter months, but now it is valid monthly throughout the year.

Also, according to the new decree, before the start of the 2025-2026 heating season, each needy family will be allocated one million soums in financial assistance. These funds will mainly be directed to the preparation of the heating system, improvement of gas supply, and creation of necessary reserves for the winter season.

Officials emphasized that these changes are aimed at meeting the real needs of the population, efficient resource allocation, and preventing interruptions in winter energy supply.

Thus, the new decision will not only create relief for gas consumers, but also ensure the maintenance of a stable standard of living for low-income segments of the population by reducing their budget burden.
