Negotiations between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued in an expanded format at the Kuksaroy residence with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of state noted that the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan is a vivid manifestation of the strength of the centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between the two fraternal peoples.

During the negotiations, topical areas of further expansion of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership were discussed. The achieved results in trade, transport, energy, water management, and other important areas were highly appreciated.

"Undoubtedly, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, the esteemed Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has made a great contribution to these achievements," said President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was noted that in recent years, the trade turnover between the two countries has doubled and exceeded $1 billion. It was noted that there are all possibilities for bringing this figure to $2 billion in the coming years through the expansion of the range of products and the effective use of the free trade regime.

The launch of the "Shavat-Dashoguz" border trade zone was noted as an important project aimed at increasing trade turnover. An agreement was reached on the application of this experience in other areas, primarily in the Alat-Farab region.

In order to expand industrial cooperation, the importance of actively involving business circles in new joint projects for the production of building materials, pharmaceuticals, food products, and other in-demand goods was emphasized.

An agreement was reached on further deepening the established effective and mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector, including the joint development of promising deposits.

It was emphasized that the transport sector is an important link linking the economies of the two countries. It was noted that the volume of cargo transportation is growing, and customs and logistics procedures are being simplified. The parties agreed to jointly develop the port of Turkmenbashi and resume direct flights between the capitals.

In order to ensure the timely and full implementation of the agreements reached, it is planned to hold regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council by the end of the year.

It was emphasized that ties in the humanitarian sphere are a solid foundation for multifaceted cooperation. It was noted that the Days of Turkmen Culture held in Urgench and Tashkent, as well as the screenings of Turkmen films, aroused great interest.

In order to maintain the dynamics of cooperation, it was agreed to hold regular concerts and creative tours of theatrical groups, organize a Youth Forum in Khiva, and continue the practice of joint film production. It is also planned to intensify exchanges in healthcare and medical science.

Following the talks, the heads of state gave relevant instructions on the preparation and approval of a comprehensive "roadmap" for the implementation of all agreements reached.
