The Hydrometeorological Service has published a preliminary seasonal forecast for the 2025-2026 winter season. Experts note that this year's winter is generally expected to be close to long-term norms, but on some days, significant temperature fluctuations may be observed across the regions. In this regard, it was noted that citizens, services, and economic sectors need to prepare in advance.
December: Relatively warm and variable month
It is predicted that the first month of winter will begin with temperatures 1-1.5 degrees above normal. In the first ten days of the month, the air will be especially mild: at night 0...+5°, during the day +10...+15°.
However, starting from the second half of December, the weather will change dramatically: at night it will drop from +2...+7° to 0...-5°, during the day it may decrease from +12...+17° to +2...+7°. Precipitation is expected to be normal or slightly less.
January: gradual cooling and the possibility of strong winds
Although January may at first glance resemble a typical winter, in some areas the frosts may be slightly stronger than normal. During the first two ten days of the month, the temperature fluctuates significantly: at night from +3...+8° to -3...-8°, during the day from +10...+15° to -2...+3°.
In the third ten-day period, the harshest period of winter is expected: in most regions, temperatures may drop to -12...-17°C at night and -5...-10°C during the day. In Nukus and Urgench, the temperature may drop to -20...-25°.
February: cold at first, then noticeable warming
Anomalous frosts may persist in the first ten days of February: -5...-10° at night, -3...+2° during the day. However, after this, winter becomes somewhat lighter: at night it can be around -2...-7°, rising to +3...+8°. During the daytime, temperatures are expected to range from 0...+5° to +10...+15°. In some southern regions, temperatures can reach +15...+20°C on some days.
The amount of precipitation will generally be within the norm.
What do the experts say?
Hydrometeorologists emphasize that the seasonal forecast is not a precise guide - changes may occur depending on weather conditions. However, additional information about possible severe frosts, strong winds, or unfavorable hydrometeorological conditions will be published in a timely manner.
Therefore, citizens, especially in such areas as heat supply, agriculture, energy, and the transport system, are advised to plan their tasks in advance and take precautionary measures.
