President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on urgent measures to improve the environmental situation in the city of Tashkent on November 24, 2025. The document is a comprehensive step towards reducing air pollution in the capital and mitigating the impact of climate change.
Landscaping and "Green Corridors"
According to the document, in the spring and autumn of 2026, large-scale landscaping work will be carried out along the streets of Tashkent, and separate "Green Corridors" will be created. This initiative will contribute to improving the city's microclimate, reducing dust pollution, and creating convenient pedestrian and recreation areas for the population.
"Smart" traffic lights and control
At the same time, modern technologies will be actively implemented: "smart" traffic lights will be installed at 700 intersections across the city, and traffic flow will be managed using artificial intelligence. This will significantly reduce traffic congestion and harmful emissions.
Health monitoring is being strengthened
Within the framework of the Decree, the Committees for Health and Ecology were instructed to constantly study the impact of air pollution on public health, strengthen statistical and preventive measures on respiratory diseases. These measures are aimed at protecting the population from environmental risks.
