In Uzbekistan, opportunities for determining the family history of citizens and the chain of generations are expanding. In accordance with the Presidential Decree, the "Shajara" information system will be fully launched in the country from September 1, 2026. This new platform will allow citizens to form their genealogy electronically and see a clear and complete network of generations based on historical sources and scientific data.
The main goal of the system is to ensure that people receive information about their descendants through an orderly, reliable, and convenient electronic source. The "Shajara" information system provides comprehensive services to citizens by combining historical archives, family documents, and modern DNA data.
The presidential decree emphasizes that the new service will create the following opportunities:
- compilation of genealogical data based on documents stored in the Unified Electronic Archive of the Civil Registry Office, state archives, and departmental archives;
- Determination of the ethnic origin of citizens using DNA data from the Republican Center for Forensic Expertise named after Kh. Suleymanova.
This allows citizens not only to know the surnames or degree of kinship of their descendants, but also to understand their historical roots, ethnicity, and the direction of their lineage.
The family tree formation service is provided through public service centers and the my.gov.uz portal for three main historical periods:
1. From the 9th century to 1917 - information based on ancient sources and archival documents;
2. 1918-1945 - archival data for a period of significant historical changes;
3. From 1946 to the present - based on modern data and digitized sources.
With the introduction of this system, citizens will be more interested in the history of their families and will have the opportunity to study the path of their ancestors more deeply. This not only satisfies personal spiritual needs, but is also an important step in preserving the history of the nation and the memory of generations.
The expected "Shajara" system can become one of the most advanced platforms for storing and organizing the history of generations in electronic form not only in Uzbekistan, but also in the region.
