The territory of Samarkand is officially expanding by 17.5 thousand hectares. According to the head of the presidential press service, Sherzod Asadov, as a result of the incorporation of parts of Akdarya, Payaryk, Pastdargom, Taylak, and Samarkand districts into the city, the population will increase from 604,000 to 882,000 people.
In order to meet the demand for modern housing in the wake of population growth and an increase in the city's income, three large massifs were selected:
- in "Shirin" for 180 thousand residents,
- "Temiryo'l orti" for 100 thousand people,
- Multi-story residential buildings for 30 thousand people will be built in Karasu-2.
Schools, kindergartens, universities, hospitals, business centers, shopping malls, and entertainment venues will also be built in these areas. Next year, 49 regional organizations in Samarkand will be relocated to the Shirin massif. Also, by the end of the year, a 577-meter bridge over the Karadarya River will be commissioned.
In cooperation with Spanish investors, the sewerage system in these three areas will be completely updated.
To reduce the flow of trucks entering the city, 4 logistics centers will be built along the highway in the Akdarya, Taylak, and Samarkand districts.
