On the eve of the New Year, the issue of ensuring the stability of prices for food products, which may cause a sharp increase in demand among the population, was put on the agenda. In this regard, the Competition Committee officially warned large retail chains not to allow cases of unjustified price increases.
According to the committee, special instructions were sent to retail chains, taking into account the possibility of an increase in demand for socially significant products on the eve of the holiday. In particular, in the event of price increases due to price changes, logistics costs, or other factors by suppliers from large supermarkets such as "Korzinka," "Makro," "Havas," "Baraka," "Magnum," "Assorti," "B1," and "Magnit," it is required to immediately notify the committee. It is also noted that suppliers must be constantly warned about the inadmissibility of unjustified price increases.
Socially significant food products constitute the main part of the daily consumption of the population. Demand and supply for these products in the market can fluctuate dramatically due to seasonal or other reasons. Such goods include, first of all, beef, lamb and poultry, vegetable and animal fats, sugar, grain and flour, as well as potatoes, carrots, and onions. In addition, other types of food products, the list of which is approved by the Republican Commission, are also socially significant.
It should be noted that earlier the Competition Committee also warned entrepreneurs about the need to strictly follow the rules established in discounts and promotions held before the New Year. These measures are aimed at protecting the interests of the population and preventing artificial inflation during holidays.
