Why were Erkinjon Turdimov's senatorial powers terminated?

The Central Election Commission adopted a resolution on the early termination of the powers of E. Turdimov as a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. It is noted that this decision was made in full compliance with the requirements of the current legislation.

According to the Constitution, members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis are elected from among the deputies of regional, district, and city Kengashes of People's Deputies. That is, the status of a senator is directly related to being a deputy of the local Kengash.

If a senator for any reason loses his powers as a deputy of the Council, he will automatically lose his membership in the Senate. This circumstance is clearly defined by law.

In this situation, E. Turdimov lost his status as a deputy of the Samarkand Regional Council due to his appointment as the khokim of Syrdarya region. At the same time, the powers of a senator have been legally terminated.

It is noted that if Turdimov is later elected as a deputy to the Syrdarya Regional Council, in accordance with the current procedure, he can be re-elected as a senator.

Thus, senatorship is not a separate and independent title, but is inextricably linked with the powers of a deputy in a local representative body, and these relations are clearly regulated by law.
