Census participation should increase: President calls on citizens

A large-scale nationwide census of the population and agriculture has begun. This process is not just statistics—it is an important step to determine the real situation of every region, every mahalla, and every family.

It is reported that so far, out of a total of 7 million 613 thousand households, 4 million 776 thousand have been registered. In other words, the work is underway, but not at the same pace everywhere. In particular, the census is said to be progressing slowly in Tashkent city, as well as in Fergana, Surkhandarya, Bukhara, and Tashkent regions.

The head of state emphasized the significance of the event, reminding that it is being held for the first time in 37 years. According to him, the census is a “real map” that clearly shows where problems exist, what kind of help is needed and by whom, and where there are more opportunities.

As the President noted, this process helps set future plans correctly, work precisely at the mahalla level, and most importantly, put in place effective mechanisms aimed at improving people’s well-being. In this regard, the head of state called on all citizens to actively take part in the census—because its results should later be felt in the life of every household.

The meeting also discussed the situation on the ground: reports and proposals from district khokims, mahalla chairpersons, and khokim assistants were heard. This means the issue is not a case of “said at the top and forgotten”—it is clear that oversight is strengthening in terms of implementation and accountability as well.

In short, every citizen’s participation in this event matters. Accurate information entered into the census means that decisions made later will also be accurate.
