EU sanctioned Uzbek companies

The European Union has imposed sanctions against two large enterprises operating in Uzbekistan. The measures target Raw Materials Cellulose, a producer of cotton cellulose, and the Fergana Chemical Plant. The Fergana Chemical Plant is controlled by Rustam Muminov.

According to reports, products manufactured by these enterprises were supplied to gunpowder manufacturing plants in Russia, specifically those in Perm, Kazan, and Tambov. It is alleged that this raw material was subsequently used for military purposes, with the finished gunpowder being delivered to the Russian army.

European Union officials have assessed this situation as a serious violation and decided to apply restrictive measures. Within the framework of the sanctions, the companies' access to European markets may be restricted, their financial operations placed under monitoring, and their opportunities for international cooperation reduced.
