Funds on cards will no longer be fully withdrawn for loan payments

In Uzbekistan, banks are now required to leave a minimum balance of at least 1,236,000 soums on plastic cards when automatically withdrawing funds. It was reported via an information program that this new procedure came into effect on April 15 of this year.
According to the report, a minimum non-reducible balance has been established for card accounts. This amount is equivalent to three times the base calculating amount, which currently totals 1,236,000 soums. The core essence of the new regulation is that this specified minimum amount will be permanently maintained when customers withdraw money or perform other financial transactions. In other words, card balances will no longer be reduced to zero, and at least 1,236,000 soums will remain under any circumstances.
Furthermore, all operations will be carried out only within the limits of funds exceeding this threshold. For example, if the total balance on a card is 2,000,000 soums, the customer can only withdraw up to 764,000 soums, as the remaining portion is kept as the minimum balance.
It should be noted that a specific legal basis for this restriction—such as a law, decree, or officially confirmed regulation—has not yet been disclosed.
