Flood risk rising: Uzhydromet issues emergency warning

Due to expected precipitation across the republic from May 8–12, there is a risk of floods and flash floods in certain areas. Uzhydromet has issued an emergency warning regarding this.
According to experts, the risk of flash floods is high, especially in foothill and mountainous areas due to a sharp increase in water flow. Residents and visitors in these areas should take necessary precautions.
In particular, the risk of flash floods is high in the following areas:
- Kashkadarya Region: Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashi, Guzar districts;
- Surkhandarya Region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsay, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, Muzrabat districts;
- Samarkand Region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Kushrabat, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jambay, Ishtikhan districts;
- Navoi Region: Khatyrchi, Navbahor, Nurata, Konimekh, Karmana districts;
- Jizzakh Region: Zaamin, Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharof Rashidov, Farish, Yangiabad districts;
- Tashkent Region: Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Urtachirchik, Yukorichirchik districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
- Namangan Region: Pap, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, Yangikurgan districts;
- Fergana Region: Sokh, Shakhimardan, Fergana, Besharyk districts;
- Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduk, Kurgan-tepa, Pakhtaabad, Izbaskan, Khodjaabad, Marhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad.
Additionally, there is a possibility of water accumulation and flooding of roads and residential areas due to heavy rains in some regions.
Authorities urge drivers, tourists, and local residents in mountainous areas to remain vigilant and take necessary safety measures. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.
We remind you that water levels in small rivers and streams can rise rapidly under such weather conditions. Residents are advised to follow official warnings and exercise caution.
