Number of borrowers in Uzbekistan up 2.6 times

Since 2020, the number of credit contracts signed by citizens with commercial banks in Uzbekistan has increased by 3.2 times, and the number of borrowers by 2.6 times, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported.
According to the regulator, this growth was driven by the development of the retail banking market, the expansion of digital services, and the introduction of new banking products.
As of January 1, 2020, 1.93 million people had outstanding loans. By June 1, 2025, this number rose to 5.02 million. Meanwhile, the number of credit contracts grew from 2.4 million to 7.78 million.
