A new procedure for train traffic is planned to be introduced in Uzbekistan. According to it, if the train is late for the specified time due to the fault of the carrier, passengers will be paid monetary compensation.
This initiative was put forward by the Competition Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is aimed at protecting the interests of passengers. The new system aims to improve the quality of service and strengthen confidence in railway transport.
According to the established rules, the amount of compensation based on the delay will be as follows:
15–30 minutes late - 15 percent of the ticket price,
31–60 minutes - 25 percent,
61–120 minutes - 50 percent,
and if the delay is more than 121 minutes, the passenger will be refunded in full, that is, 100 percent.
Previously, this procedure only applied to the "Afrosiyob" high-speed trains. Now, this rule is planned to be applied to all local trains, including regular and high-speed routes.
