The former deputy mayor of Aktau, Temur Saidvakasov, who was put on the international wanted list, was detained in Uzbekistan.

It is reported that the former official illegally crossed the border of Kazakhstan with Kyrgyzstan, and then was detained by local border guards when he crossed into Uzbekistan.

Now Saidvakasov may be sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison - this type of punishment is established in Uzbekistan for the pre-arranged crossing of the state border by a group of persons.

The deputy mayor is suspected of corruption crimes in Kazakhstan related to the activities of the Tiolain company, which is developing the Obukhovskoye rare metals deposit in the North Kazakhstan region. According to the investigation, one of the company's shareholders, Viktor Dolgalev, committed violations of the law in his business, including engaging in illegal entrepreneurship and arbitrarily using subsoil resources.

Earlier, the court acquitted Dolgalev, but soon the verdict was overturned, and the case was sent for reconsideration to another region. According to the investigation, the businessman also solved his problems with the help of officials, including Saidvakasov. The deputy governor is accused of fraud and incitement to bribery.

Upon learning that he was included in the list of suspects, the deputy governor tried to hide, but now he may be imprisoned in two countries at once - in Kazakhstan for corruption crimes and in Uzbekistan for illegal border crossing.
