Sergey Lavrov: Russia will not enter into "trap" agreements with Trump
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his views on possible agreements with former US President Donald Trump in an interview with Kommersant. He noted that Moscow has never been against mutually beneficial agreements, but knows well not to enter into "trap" agreements.

"If, as Trump said, truly normal agreements are offered, we are open to them. But these agreements should be based on mutual interests, not to lure Russia into another trap," Lavrov said.

Trump's policy is open to dialogue, but cautious

Lavrov stressed that Donald Trump puts national interests first in foreign policy, and if these interests coincide with the interests of other countries, he will also show readiness for dialogue.

At the same time, Lavrov recalled that some of the US's past "agreements" were concluded only for one-sided benefit. As a result of such "deals", Russia has repeatedly been left alone on the international stage and will now be wary of such scenarios.
