Lucy Go made her fortune at the age of 21. While studying at Carnegie Mellon University, she dropped out of college to found Scale AI, an artificial intelligence company. Her partner in the company was Alexander Wang, who was only 19 at the time. Lucy successfully led the operations and product development teams at this San Francisco-based startup.

Go and Wang were included in the Forbes Under 30 ranking in 2018. However, the two partners soon fell out over their vision for the future, and Wang was forced out of the company. However, Lucy retained a large stake in Scale AI.

Today, Lucy Go owns about 5% of Scale AI. The total value of this stake is about $1.2 billion. Also, taking into account her shares in the startup Passes and other investments, her total wealth has reached $1.25 billion.

Lucy said that she never imagined that she would have such a large fortune: “To be honest, these numbers are unbelievable. But unfortunately, they are only on paper for now,” she said.

Lucy is the daughter of Chinese immigrant parents and grew up near San Francisco. She became interested in programming while still in school. Later, she entered Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied computer science and human-computer relations. Lucy, who dropped out without graduating, received an entrepreneurial scholarship organized by the famous billionaire investor Peter Thiel.

In 2015, she worked as a product designer at Quora, where she met her future business partner Alexander Wang. After working briefly at Snapchat, Lucy founded Scale AI with Wang in 2016.
