The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is causing sharp debates and political disputes on the international stage. U.S. President Donald Trump made a harsh statement regarding the latest major airstrike carried out by Russia against Ukraine, describing Russian President Vladimir Putin as "completely insane."
Commenting on this situation, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, assessed Trump’s criticism as a result of “emotional tension.” According to Peskov, the tremendous efforts shown by the United States and personally by Trump to initiate peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine have caused serious emotional pressure among representatives of both sides.
At the same time, Peskov gave high praise to the role of the American side in the negotiation process and expressed gratitude to the U.S. and Trump for their efforts in this direction. In his opinion, this process is very delicate and complex, and emotional reactions from its participants are a natural phenomenon.
The press secretary of Putin emphasized that the President of Russia is determined in making necessary decisions to ensure the country's security. As an example, he referred to the concerns about ensuring the safety of world leaders during the Victory Parade held in Moscow, against the background of drone attacks.
According to Peskov, such aggressive attacks are continuing to this day. He stated that the Ukrainian side is regularly striking Russia’s peaceful and socially important infrastructure, and that Russia, in turn, is responding to these aggressions only by targeting military facilities.
On the night leading to May 25, Russian military forces launched nearly 300 drones and 70 missiles towards Ukrainian cities and regions. This was one of the largest attacks since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. As a result of the attack, 12 people were killed, and more than 60 were injured. Among the affected regions were Kyiv and its region, as well as Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, and Poltava.
Trump called these attacks “acts carried out without any reason and costing many lives.” In his statement, he warned that Putin’s actions could lead Russia into a major crisis.
“I have always had good relations with Vladimir Putin. But something has happened to him — he seems completely insane. He is killing many people without any reason, and I’m not only talking about soldiers. These actions will lead Russia to a major crisis and decline,” Trump emphasized.
At the same time, the U.S. president also criticized his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that he also contributed to the escalation of the situation. According to Trump, this crisis has arisen as a result of the incorrect policies of Putin, Zelensky, and former U.S. president Joe Biden.
Currently, although peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are ongoing, Russia's refusal to agree to a ceasefire and Putin's rejection of a one-on-one meeting proposal with Zelensky leave questions unanswered about how the situation will be resolved.
The international community is closely observing this crisis, and the course of future developments remains a source of interest and concern for all. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
