On June 22, 2025, one of the largest military operations in US history was carried out. During this attack, called "Midnight Hammer", powerful strikes were launched from the air and underwater against Iran’s three main nuclear facilities.
The US Department of Defense officially presented this operation to the public. According to Minister Pete Hegseth, this strike was not aimed at the people of Iran, but at completely eliminating the capability to produce nuclear weapons. According to him, many US presidents dreamed of ending Iran’s nuclear program, but only Donald Trump was able to achieve this.
According to US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Kane, more than 125 military pilots participated in the operation. In particular, a huge fleet was involved, including 7 B-2 Spirit bombers, reconnaissance, refueling, and fighter jets. This flight became the longest mission for the B-2 since September 11.
To deliver a surprise strike, the US conducted a special deception operation. Part of the planes was sent west — toward the Pacific Ocean, while the real strike aircraft moved east for 18 hours with minimal communication. The B-2 bombers stayed in Iranian airspace for 20 minutes, delivering direct strikes to the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear centers.
The US also struck from underwater — more than 20 Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched at the facilities in Isfahan.
In total, 75 high-precision guided bombs were used in this operation, including, for the first time in combat conditions, 14 GBU-57 “bunker buster” bombs. This was the first time in history that such bombs were used in real combat.
The Pentagon claims that these strikes completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear program, but whether the capability is completely gone is still unclear. Iran, for now, has not given a serious military response.
This attack may cause serious geopolitical waves not only in the Middle East but around the world. With "Midnight Hammer," America once again demonstrated its global influence.
