France hit by storm: There are deaths
A hurricane hit France: there are fatalities and destroyed homes
On June 25, a severe natural disaster occurred in France. In many regions of the country, strong winds, thunderstorms, and road‑shaking conditions were observed. As a result of this natural storm, two people died, dozens were injured, and over 100,000 homes lost electricity.

The nighttime hail and raging wind terrified the population in an instant. The weather changed drastically, and nature showed its fury.

Fallen trees claimed human lives
The tragedy in Mayenne was especially sorrowful. There, a 59‑year‑old man riding a quad bike was crushed to death by a falling tree driven onto the road by strong wind. Nearby people tried to save him, but doctors could not preserve his life.

Another grievous incident occurred in Tarn‑et‑Garonne. A 12‑year‑old child fell into a river after a tree fell and drowned. Rescuers tried to retrieve him immediately, but his body was found only hours later.

17 people hospitalized with various injuries
The hurricane and its tragic impact were not limited to deaths. According to official data, at least 17 people across France suffered bodily injuries due to the wind and falling trees. They were hospitalized under medical supervision. Some of their conditions are assessed as moderate to severe.

Power networks collapsed — over 100,000 homes plunged into darkness
The wind reached speeds up to 112 km/h, causing significant damage to infrastructure. Lines and poles collapsed, resulting in more than 100 000 homes across France being left without electricity. Emergency services used all efforts to restore power.

Train traffic halted, metro stations closed
The strong wind disrupted not only houses but also transport systems. Train operations were temporarily suspended. Many passengers were stranded. In Paris, several metro stations were closed for safety reasons. Hundreds of trees fell on the roads, about 50 alone in Paris.

Officials issue warnings: the danger isn’t over yet
France’s emergency services urged citizens to remain cautious. According to their forecasts, wind and rainy weather may continue for several days, with flood risks in some areas.

Local authorities also advise people to stay indoors and away from fallen trees and power lines.
