Ceaseless threat in Ukrainian skies: Russian drones and missiles leave widespread destruction in new attack
On July 6, from midnight until the morning hours, bloody and dramatic events once again unfolded across Ukraine. Russian armed forces rained drones and missiles on various regions of the country. This time, the attacks were notable not only for their scale, but also for the devastation and casualties – deaths, injuries, and significant material losses were reported in different locations.

The Russian assault did not cease until 08:30 AM. According to the official statement from the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia used 157 various drones that day, including "Shaheed" types and their imitators, as well as S-300 missiles. Ukrainian air defense managed to shoot down 117 of them, but strikes by drones were registered at 19 points, and drone debris fell from the sky in two other places. Especially concerning is that in recent days, the Russian army has been employing multiple drone types simultaneously, increasing both their number and strike power.

Destruction in Kharkiv Region, children among the victims

Kharkiv Region became one of the most affected areas in this attack. According to Ukrainian police, at night drones struck not only various districts of Kharkiv, but also the Kupiansk district in the east. These attacks damaged civilian facilities, a sports complex, and residential buildings. Most tragically, in the village of Odnorobivka (Bohodukhiv district), a car was hit, resulting in the death of an eight-year-old boy, while a four-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man were seriously injured. Another 36 women experienced acute stress. Photographs of the attack’s aftermath in the region were published.

Poltava: strikes on military center and homes, fires and evacuation

In Poltava Region, a Russian drone attack was recorded at 9:35 AM in the city of Kremenchuk. The regional recruitment and social support center – the equivalent of a military enlistment office – was directly hit. Another house was also struck. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities among the military and staff. However, a major fire broke out in one of the houses in the Kremenchuk district. Local journalists shared photo and video evidence of the attack’s aftermath. The "Truha" Telegram channel posted video showing single-story buildings engulfed in flames.

Mykolaiv Region: port infrastructure and housing damaged

Mykolaiv Region was also hit hard by Russian drones. According to regional head Vitaliy Kim, port infrastructure, warehouses, power lines, recreation centers, a post office, and shops were damaged. Thirteen private homes and power lines were destroyed. Many residents were left without electricity. Drones also attacked the city of Mykolaiv: ten residential buildings, eateries, and a bank were damaged, and two people were injured. Especially alarming, the attacks were repeated several times from 09:23 to 09:40 AM.

Kyiv Region: apartment blocks and kindergarten damaged

In Vyshhorod district of Kyiv Region, Russian drones carried out coordinated and intense attacks. According to regional head Mykola Kalashnyk, three people were injured, two apartment buildings and a kindergarten were damaged. Fire destroyed four garages, three cars were damaged, and a warehouse caught fire. Six private homes and outbuildings were also destroyed. Photos of the aftermath were widely distributed by the emergency services.

Zaporizhzhia Region: more homes and infrastructure hit

The city of Zaporizhzhia and the regional center also came under Russian drone attack. According to regional head Ivan Fedorov, three apartment buildings, a private house, an enterprise, a farm, and warehouses were damaged. Fires broke out at several locations. Regrettably, an 89-year-old woman was seriously injured in the Zaporizhzhia district.

Conclusion and general assessment

This latest round of Russian attacks brought another difficult night and an uncertain morning for Ukraine. Even just according to official data, the country suffered significant losses, with children, the elderly, and people of all ages affected. Drones, missiles, and their imitators have become a new source of fear and threat. Despite all difficulties, the defense forces continue to protect their citizens, but such attacks further worsen the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
