Trump’s ultimatum to Tokayev: 25% tariff imposed on Kazakhstani products
Amid new confrontations in the global economy, US President Donald Trump drew attention with an open letter to Kazakhstan’s leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, reports Truth Social. In this letter, Trump officially announced that, starting August 1, 2025, a 25% tariff will be imposed on products from Kazakhstan.

According to Trump, if Kazakhstan or its companies manufacture products directly in the United States, this tariff will not apply. “We are ready to resolve manufacturing and licensing processes very quickly, even within a few weeks,” the US president writes.

It has become known that similar letters were sent not only to Kazakhstan but also to the leaders of Malaysia, Laos, South Africa, Myanmar, Japan, and South Korea. For them, tariff rates were set between 25% and 40%.

Experts believe that such a sharp economic policy by Trump could push the formation of new rules and relationships in global trade. This will require many countries to reconsider new production projects and trade strategies.
