Russia does not respond: Ilham Aliyev intends to appeal to international court over AZAL tragedy

In Azerbaijan, a sharp statement was made regarding a tragedy that has gone unanswered for 7 months. President Ilham Aliyev announced that he intends to appeal to international courts over the crash of an AZAL airline aircraft belonging to the national air carrier.

According to him, official Baku has studied the incident thoroughly and gathered all necessary evidence. However, there is still no response from Russia. “We know exactly what happened and are ready to prove it. Unfortunately, it is hard to understand why Russia has remained silent for 7 months,” said Aliyev.

The president stated that it’s not just about revealing the truth. Azerbaijan has made specific demands:
– to punish those responsible for the crash;
– to pay compensation to the families of the victims;
– to reimburse the material damage caused to AZAL.

Highlighting that Russian authorities are aware of the incident, Ilham Aliyev critically assessed the neighboring country’s position. “If the situation were reversed, we would have already expressed our stance and taken the necessary measures. But silence and indifference in such a case are wrong, even threatening,” he added.

The president also stressed that Azerbaijan is ready to use all international legal mechanisms and will wait patiently, no matter how long it takes, for justice to be served.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani public and political circles are deeply concerned about this issue. Citizens are demanding justice and that the memory of the victims be honored with respect.

Aliyev’s statement is expected to spark serious discussions not only at the regional but also at the international level. Because questions remain open: what political issues lie behind this tragedy, what facts are being hidden, and why one side is avoiding responsibility.
