Putin proposed to freeze the front, Zelensky objected

During important negotiations in Alaska, Russian President Vladimir Putin came up with an unexpected proposal. He suggested stabilizing the situation by freezing the front line in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, Axios reported.

According to sources, the American delegation got the impression that Putin is ready to stop the fighting, but in return he intends to keep Donbas under Russian control. This led to even greater debates and disputes during the negotiations.

At the meeting, the Kremlin leader tried to convince Donald Trump that if the Russian armed forces wanted, they could take full control over the entire Donbas and other territories where fighting continues.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly opposed these words. According to him, Putin is deliberately distorting the real situation at the front, and in fact, reality is completely different. Zelensky stated that through this path Russia is trying to impose favorable conditions for itself.

It should be recalled that earlier Donald Trump said that recognizing the entire Donbas as Russian territory could help achieve a peace agreement faster.

In conclusion, the negotiations in Alaska once again highlighted the tension between Russia and Ukraine. For some, Putin’s proposal to freeze the front looks like a “real way,” but Zelensky’s strong objection may make reaching an agreement even more difficult.
