According to the Chinese publication "Baijiahao," while the world is discussing Donald Trump's loud statements, Russia silently surprised Japan with a diplomatic step.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov proposed reforming the UN Security Council. According to him, within the framework of the reform, it is necessary to provide greater representation of Asian, African, and Latin American countries.
At the same time, Lavrov stated that he supports Russia's proposal to include Brazil and India as permanent members of the Security Council. This has become a serious obstacle for Japan, as Tokyo is also striving for permanent membership.
The publication notes that Lavrov's proposal is extremely diplomatically constructive and could turn Japan's dream of joining the UN Security Council into an unattainable dream.
