In Indonesia’s East Java province, a school building collapsed. Three students were killed, 99 were injured and taken to hospital. Officials said 38 people remained trapped under the rubble.
At the time of the incident, hundreds of students had gathered for prayer. As a result of the collapse, many were unable to get out.
Local authorities said that an additional floor had been built illegally at the school and that the building’s foundation could not support it. As a result, the building completely collapsed.
Rescuers are continuing efforts to free people. They are trying to find those trapped under the rubble as quickly as possible.
