China has started a fight against negative content

According to The New York Times, Chinese officials launched a two-month cleanup campaign against content that "excessively exaggerates negative and pessimistic moods" at the end of September.

During the campaign, social media accounts promoting "depression" and spreading ideas like "hard work is useless" or "bearing children is economically wrong" are being blocked. In particular, bloggers who promoted a minimalist lifestyle and advised to abandon the dream of a career were blocked.

Additionally, users who commented that life in the West is better than in China were also subject to restrictions. Some of them had tens of millions of followers. On the Weibo network, more than 1,200 accounts were deleted for spreading "rumors" about the country's economy and housing market.
