US President Donald Trump announced a new agreement on Gaza during his trip to the Middle East. Under the deal, the war will stop, Israeli hostages will be released, and Palestinian prisoners will be returned. Trump called the day “historic.”
Trump was welcomed in Tel Aviv by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking in the Israeli parliament, he said the war had ended and that a “New Middle East” had begun.
Trump then traveled to Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh city, where talks between Israel and Hamas were held. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also took part in the ceremony.
Experts say the deal is an important step, but maintaining peace in the region remains a difficult challenge.
