Is the era of Takaiti beginning in Japan? A new alliance has been announced

A new turning point has occurred in Japan's political landscape - the country's leading Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Japan Innovation Party officially announced the formation of a coalition on October 20, reports bbc.com.

Co-chair of the Innovation Party, Hirofumi Yosimura, said during a statement:

"We want to move Japan forward together. This union opens new opportunities for the country."

Thus, the 26-year political tradition in Japan changed. Previously, the LDP ruled alongside the Komeyto party, a Buddhist organization. However, with the election of Sanae Takaiti under the party's leadership, the Komeyto decided to withdraw from the government.

The two weeks between the elections to the LDP leadership and the formation of the new coalition became a turning point in the country's political life. Takaiti gained particular attention with the possibility of becoming the first female prime minister in Japanese history.

The alliance with the Innovation Party ensured Takaiti's victory. However, the new coalition currently lacks two seats to secure a parliamentary majority. Therefore, it is possible that there will be certain difficulties in the activities of the government.

According to Kyodo news agency, representatives of the Innovation Party have so far decided not to join the new government.

Sanae Takaiti is a student of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and also highly respects the political views of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

According to the Associated Press, Takaiti's appointment as prime minister is not being seen as a step towards gender equality in Japan. Many feminists consider some of her views conservative.

She is, among other things, against allowing women to retain their surnames after marriage. According to Japanese law, married couples must choose a single surname. Takaiti also does not support the idea of including women in the list of Chrysanthemum heirs.

The formation of a new coalition in Japan is perceived not only as a political, but also as a cultural turning point. The leadership of Takaiti could be a sign of the beginning of a new political stage for the country.
