For the first time in the country's history, an unmanned tram began operating regularly in Russia. As part of the innovative project, the new vehicle serves passengers on route No. 10.
Since its launch, the tram has managed to carry about 40 thousand passengers. Most importantly, the automated system has never violated traffic rules.
According to experts, this project marked the beginning of a new stage in the digitalization of urban transport and the introduction of safe, environmentally friendly technologies in Russia.
The driverless tram route is fully controlled by an artificial intelligence system. It not only automatically detects road signs and traffic lights, but also quickly responds to sudden obstacles.
The success of the tram project is being assessed as a pilot model in Russia for other large cities as well.
