US nuclear weapons may be deployed on Japanese territory

The possibility of deploying US nuclear weapons in Japan is being discussed in political circles. Kyodo news agency reported this.

According to sources, Prime Minister Sanae Takaiti advocates for revising Japan's long-standing principles of "not possessing, not producing, and not importing nuclear weapons."

According to Takaiti, this firm principle, especially the third point - the policy of "non-introduction of nuclear weapons into the country" - effectively limits the US nuclear deterrent power.

He emphasized that this situation could weaken Japan's security guarantees in the event of a military emergency. "If US nuclear weapons carriers are banned from entering Japan, the country will lose its defense capabilities," Takaiti said.

Japan, as the only country in the world that has suffered from nuclear weapons since the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, has always pursued its policy in the direction of peace. Therefore, the idea of changing a nuclear-weapon-free policy is causing widespread debate within the country.
