Bangladesh experiences 6 magnitude earthquake

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh on November 21st, killing at least six people and injuring nearly 100 civilians, according to government data. According to Reuters, the U.S. Geological Survey estimated the earthquake at 5.5 magnitude.

As a result of the earthquake, buildings in the city of Dhaka and a number of regions were damaged. The tremors were also felt in the border states of India. Muhammad Yunus stated that among the victims are students of Dhaka University, workers from Gazipur, and residents of Narsingdi.

Police reported that three people died after the six-story building's fence collapsed, and three others died after being crushed by the roof and walls. The healthcare consultant stated that some of the victims are in serious condition.

Many witnesses described the strong tremors, panic, and traffic jams that had formed among the people. The government has issued an order to strengthen rescue operations.
