A surprising and somewhat alarming incident related to wildlife has occurred in the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan. Information distributed by "Nur.kz" about two students of a rural school being attacked by foxes drew public attention.
According to the regional health department, on November 21, two schoolchildren were attacked by an unknown animal. The children, accompanied by their parents, were urgently referred to the emergency department of the Beyneu Central District Hospital. It was later determined that the animal that caused the attack was the corsac fox.
According to preliminary findings of traumatologists, scratches and bite marks were observed on the right tibia of a child born in 2011, and on the left leg of a child born in 2018. Immediately, both children received appropriate medical care through surgery, and necessary preventive vaccinations were administered. Currently, their condition is assessed as satisfactory and they are under outpatient observation.
Ecologist Odilbek Kuzibaqov noted that wild animals can be carriers of dangerous diseases such as rabies. Therefore, it is very dangerous to approach such creatures and interact with them. According to him, if someone accidentally encounters a wild animal, they should immediately report it to the relevant authorities, and if the animal bites them, they should immediately contact a medical institution.
