Russia strictly suspended entry for 160 thousand migrants

It was reported that Russia has officially banned the entry of more than 160,000 foreign citizens into the country since the beginning of 2025. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing sources in the Department of Foreign and Labor Migration of the Migration Service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to reports, approximately 3,000 foreign citizens were identified and exposed for attempting to enter the country again by changing their names, although entry was previously prohibited. It is also noted that cases of violation of migration rules have increased by 30 percent. This indicates that control has been strengthened, and the procedure for verifying documents has become stricter.

During the same period, the number of migrants who refused to leave Russia also increased by 2.5 times. Crimes related to organizing illegal migration have increased by 45%, while violations such as forging, preparing, or selling migration documents have increased by 22%. These indicators once again confirm the establishment of strict control over the migration sphere in the country.

It was reported that since the beginning of the year, more than 200 thousand migrants have been monitored during large-scale inspections of markets, observation areas, shopping centers, hotels, and dormitories. According to officials, these measures are aimed at ensuring the country's security and strengthening compliance with migration legislation.

At the same time, this year's figures are slightly lower than in the same period last year. For example, in October 2024, Minister Vladimir Kolokolsev reported that approximately 180,000 foreign citizens were denied entry to Russia in the first ten months of the year. In 2025, more than 160,000 citizens have not been admitted until now.

It should be recalled that earlier it was reported that 96 migrants who worked in the warehouse complex were deported during raids in the Moscow region. Also, since February 5, 2025, when the register of controlled persons was launched, about 35,000 people have been deported from Russia for violating immigration laws.

Experts assess Russia's firm policy as a comprehensive set of measures aimed at regulating migration flows, strengthening security, and curbing illegal activities.
