Scientists have identified 5 important stages of human brain development.

Scientists at Cambridge University have discovered that the human brain goes through several specific and complex stages throughout life. The study, published by the BBC, states that the main "turning points" in the brain occur at ages 9, 32, 66, and 83. About four thousand people under the age of 90 participated in the scientific work, whose brains were analyzed using special scanners.

Scientists said that the brain is in the youth stage until about 30 years of age, which is the peak of the human body. New information is important for understanding why the risk of mental illness or dementia varies at different ages.

According to the study, brain changes do not occur uniformly from birth to the end of life. On the contrary, its development is divided into five main stages:

• Childhood (0-9 years): the brain grows rapidly, but the process of "cutting off" excess neural connections also continues in place. At this stage, brain effectiveness is lower.

• Youth (9-32 years): relationships are reshaped for maximum effectiveness. During this period, changes in the brain are very active and the risk of mental problems is high. The fact that this phase extends to 30 years has astonished scientists.

• Puberty (32-66 years): the brain enters the most stable and longest period. Changes occur gradually, but it is at this stage that development begins to reverse, and a person reaches the "intellectual plateau."

• Early aging (66-83 years): the brain doesn't suddenly deteriorate, but switches to a different model - it starts working not as a single system, but as separate sections, but still interconnected. Dementia symptoms can manifest at this age.

•Late aging (83+): changes are similar to the previous stage, but more pronounced. There is little information about this, because there are few people with healthy brains at this age.

Dr. Mousley emphasized that changes in parts of the brain perfectly coincide with important periods in a person's life - adolescence, health problems, and major life changes in the 30s.

Professor Spyres-Jones of the University of Edinburgh also noted that the research results correspond to today's perceptions of brain aging, but these processes can occur differently in each person.
